Q: What is the difference between a PATH DC and a PATH RD?

A PATH DC is a door controller holding its own user list (50,000 users, 5,00,000 event logs) and making the access decision. A PATH RD is a reader that passes credentials to a controller and cannot run a door alone.

Q: What do the F and C in the model number mean?

F models read fingerprint plus card; C models are card-only. A DCFM is a fingerprint-and-card door controller on MIFARE; an RDCE is a card-only reader on EM Prox.

Q: What do the letters at the end mean?

The final letter is card technology: E is EM Proximity, M is MIFARE, I is HID iCLASS (also reading HID Prox, SEOS, MIFARE and EM). Match it to the cards you already issue.
